FAQs
Am I too young?
All Junior archers (under 16 year olds) have to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Ages 8 -Â 11 years old have to be assessed on a case by case basis by one of our coaches.
Am I too old?
Age is just a number. There is no maximum age limit for participating in archery. Its never too late to pick up a bow!
Do I need a bow before IÂ join?
You don't need a bow to join or before you do the beginners course at all. In fact if you're starting out, we actually tend to advise against it. Although they may seem straight forward, buying bows and arrows can be a complex and technical journey. During your course, you will only be allowed to use club equipment due to governing guidelines. The same equipment is available for hire after your course until you are ready to purchase your own archery equipment.
I have a disability, am I able to shoot?
Archery is a very inclusive sport, for instance the archer who holds the world record for longest accurate shot in archery was born without upper limbs. Most individuals can take part in archery, despite age, gender, abilities or disabilities, to a serious or hobbyist standard. Shooting styles can easily be adapted so if you would like to take part in our beginners course and feel that adjustments will be needed due to disabilities or health conditions, please do not hesitate to contact us and discuss with one of our coaches.

Where do I sign up for a beginners course?
You can sign up to the waiting list for our beginners course at any point throughout the year. Though it is best advised to do so once the particular course is advertised. It will be displayed both on this site and on our facebook page, which can be access through the link on our menu.
When is the next beginners course?
Our committee are considering when and how the next course will be ran. Our previous courses have been held twice a year. Usually the first in the start of summer, the second in late Autumn. The next beginners course will often be advertised either on this site or our facebook page, when spaces are available. If you register your interest by sending your details via email, we will add you to the waiting list and get in touch once dates are set for the upcoming course.
I used to shoot at another archery club, can I join without having to take part in any beginners course?
Again this can be case by case assessed. We tend to look at your experience in archery, previous clubs and you must be a current member of Archery GB. Please send us an email with this information, along with proof of membership. We may take you through a coaches assessment rather than a beginners course if nessecary.
Are members allowed to shoot carbon arrows?
We do allow carbon arrows when shooting both indoors and outdoors.
Can I hunt with a bow and arrow in UK or on my own land?
In the UK it is illegal to hunt using a bow and arrow in all forms (including Crossbows), regardless of whether or not it is public or privately owned land. This has been the case since 1965.
Are you available for hire at events?
We have been known to hold "have a go" sessions, demonstrating and teaching at events and local venues. If interested, please get in touch as cost and availability can vary.
When does the Club shoot?
The club currently shoots twice a week.

&

Are crossbows allowed?
